Exciting new classes this year at BMA!

Four new classes have been added for the upcoming school year which should provide an exciting change of pace and enrichment for all who choose to enroll in one or more of these electives.

Machine Shop – The Boskind Cooperation has donated and installed a complete machine shop in the Industrial Arts building. Mr. Southard, a fully certified industrial arts teacher, will be teaching this class two days a week for a two-hour period.

Home Economics – Mrs. Clark will be offering this elective again this year, two days a week for a two-hour period.

Video Production – A husband and wife team is coming to start a low power television station in Hattiesburg and will train students to film, produce, and develop programming for 3ABN and the Hope channels. They will be involved in filming our special programs and church services.  The couple running this program, along with BMA students, will be producing programming for the Gulf States Conference, and their services will be available for hire by conference churches and schools.

Mission Pilot Training (private pilot license) – Students, if you are interested in learning how to fly with the possibility of spending time with a mission pilot for a week or two in Alaska, this is the course for you! The additional cost to receive the license is about $6500, which is half of the normal cost at a regular program. This price includes ground school and all flying costs and insurance, up to and including the final test to receive the license.

 God’s Answer to BMA’s Need

For the last two months we have prayed and searched for a highly qualified and spiritually committed teacher for our science and math vacancy.  We have gone through several candidates, each of which we felt could have done a wonderful job, but each was not what God had in mind for us.  I would like to introduce you to the one He has provided.  Mrs. Janelle Shives along with her husband, Dr. Jason Shives (a Bass graduate), have accepted the position for the coming year.  She has a Masters degree in Biology from Loma Linda University, and will be able to teach a dual credit A&P class for us.

Mrs. Shives is a very dedicated teacher with excellent recommendations, interested in each student’s academic  and spiritual success.  She is committed to raising our Science and Math achievement scores and ACT scores.  As we work to improve the education received at BMA, Mrs. Shives will be an integral part.  Please pray for her and her husband as they move to become a part of our BMA family.
